CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Keystone Heights driver died in an early morning wreck on U.S. 301 south of County Road 218 when his pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another pickup head-on, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Crash investigators said the 29-year-old man was driving north at 5:45 a.m. between Lawtey and Baldwin when he lost control, cross the median and struck the southbound vehicle. #BREAKING: @FHPJacksonville is reporting at least one fatality in a multiple vehicle crash on US 301 south of CR 218. The southbound lanes remained closed past noon. Crash investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash, but roads in the area were slick from rain overnight.

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. – Bradford County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on Northwest 223rd Street off County Road 200-A south of Lawtey around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. When crews arrived, they were met with heavy fire on the front porch and entrance of the home. Firefighters called in additional crews to help battle the flames, but the home was a total loss. NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. - A 50-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday night in Nassau County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal crash was reported just after 8 p.m. on County Road 108 about 2 miles east of Owens Farm Road and just west of Interstate 95. Troopers said Wayne Thornton, of Hilliard, was headed west on CR 108 in a Ford F250 truck when he traveled off the road and hit a tree. ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - A teenage girl was killed and another was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening in Alachua County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Brandon Alexander Holt, 24, of Waldo, was arrested Thursday by FHP in Hawthorne. The crash happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 364 at Southeast 58th Terrace in Micanopy, just south of Gainesville. "After the collision, the truck made a U-turn, came back, was aware he was involved in the crash with a person. According to troopers, the driver of the truck stopped after the crash and stepped out of the vehicle, but took off west on C.R.

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - Police are searching for an Alachua County driver who hit two teens as they were walking along County Road 346 Wednesday night. Three teens had been walking together when the driver of a vehicle described as an older model gray pickup truck veered off the road hitting two of the teens from behind, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to UF Health at Shands Hospital in critical condition.
