A 22-year-old man from Green Cove Springs was killed Saturday night in a single-car crash after a driver lost control in rainy conditions, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An RV fire was blocking two right lanes on Interstate 95 southbound at J. Turner Butler Boulevard early Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Florida Department of Transportation announced that Interstate 295 will be closed overnight next week between Beach Boulevard and Town Center Parkway.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rescue crews had to free the driver of a tractor-trailer after it overturned Monday afternoon on Interstate 95 southbound just past J. Turner Butler Boulevard. The big rig was on its side off the road and a second large truck that may have been involved in the same crash was seen in the left-hand lane of the highway. The crash happened about 1 p.m. For the first hour, one southbound lane remained open until one vehicle was towed away and a second lane reopened. By 3 p.m., the tractor-trailer had been righted and towed away and all lanes reopened. The Florida Highway Patrol has not released details of how the crash occurred and the extent of any damages.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Driving along J. Turner Butler Boulevard to Kernan Boulevard, depending on the time of day, can be a nightmare for commuters. But a new traffic light at the JTB and Kernan intersection is expected to help. Before the light was installed, each driver had to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, which caused major backups. Police said Dunaway repeatedly told the officer he had a gun. Waters said Officer B. Ondriezek struggled with Dunaway and deployed his Tazer twice before Dunaway got up and ran toward his car, again saying he had a gun. Ondriezek fired two shots, killing Dunaway, Waters said. Ondriezek has been with JSO for one year, and it was his first officer-involved shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man charged in a dramatic series of events including a kidnapping, a police chase and a crash in a stolen undercover cruiser has died in the hospital, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office said a deputy was trying to arrest him, when another good Samaritan on a motorcycle attempted to assist the deputy. Bennett, the Sheriff's Office said, was able to break free, get into the undercover cruiser and head south on I-95. Investigators found a 33-year-old woman inside the car deputies said Bennett was driving before he took off in the cruiser. After the man took the undercover cruiser, deputies gave chase.
