Coach Brian Daboll says little on release of Blake Martinez
There are some topics New York Giants coach Brian Daboll is not going to shed much light on. Injuries and the release of players such as veteran Blake Martinez are high on his list. Daboll said little on either topic Monday as the Giants started to prepare for their season opener in Tennessee against the Titans.
news.yahoo.comChiefs, Bucs ride (mostly) COVID-clear season to Super Bowl
– The Kansas City Chiefs had a pretty good idea what kind of COVID-19 protocols they would have to wade through in defense of their Super Bowl championship the moment they finally gathered for in-person training camp. And it was Burkholder who helped the Chiefs navigate the season with few positive tests and just one postponement — the fault of the other team — as they closed in on a Super Bowl repeat. Those were things we just didn't know, and it was a process to figure out how to do this.”AdUltimately, the Chiefs and Buccaneers are in the Super Bowl in part because they figured it out as well as anybody. It's easy to follow the example of Tom Brady, with six Super Bowl rings behind him and the Hall of Fame in front of him, when he demands the Buccaneers mask up. The same with Patrick Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, when he tells the Chiefs to skip the family gatherings around the holidays.
Jaguars making another change at QB, go back to Gardner Minshew
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Doug Marrone is going back to Gardner Minshew. The Jaguars coach said on Monday that he was making another change at quarterback, going back to Minshew over veteran Mike Glennon. The Jaguars (1-12) travel to Baltimore on Sunday mired in a 12-game losing streak. Minshew finished 18 of 31 for 178 yards and a touchdown, although looked shaky in the pocket. Minshew was found to have fractures in his thumb during the bye week and Marrone stuck with Glennon even when Minshew was healthy enough to return.

(AP Photo/Ron Jenkins)The AFC doesn’t lack for drama or star power even though Tom Brady has taken his talents to Davis Beach. WEST: The Chiefs (8-1) are still the class of the conference despite a hiccup against the resurgent Raiders (5-3), who won 40-32 at Arrowhead Stadium on Oct. 11. Mahomes became the fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 100 TD passes, doing it in 40 games, four fewer than Dan Marino. The Broncos (3-5) have been waylaid by injuries and COVID-19 opt-outs, exposures and infections and Drew Lock went 45 drives without a TD pass.

Jaguars trade 6th-round pick for Titans LB Kamalei Correa
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars made a trade on Wednesday afternoon, sending a sixth-round pick to the rival Titans for linebacker Kamalei Correa. Jacksonville will also receive Tennessee’s seventh-round pick next year as part of the deal. Correa was a second-round pick of the Ravens in 2016 and spent two seasons there before Baltimore traded him to Tennessee. He had a career-best season for the Titans in 2019, playing in all 16 games and posting 37 tackles and five sacks in the regular season. This year, Correa has two tackles in two games.
Mark Brunell: More of the same in another forgettable loss
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Another bad loss and more of the same in how it looked. Asking a young offense to go up and down the field and swap touchdown for touchdown isn’t fair. But now, he’s four games into his NFL career and he’s been sacked 14 times in three games. This offense is still young and evolving and Gardner Minshew II isn’t quite there yet as a fully developed quarterback. The past two week’s he’s been jumpy in the pocket and not really settled back there.
Good memories in return to Cincinnati for Jaguars’ Eifert, Gruden
Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden returns to Cincinnati and Jacksonville tight end Tyler Eifert is back facing the team that drafted him. A different team now, but good memories of their time in Cincinnati. He signed with the Jaguars this offseason and has had minimal impact thus far (10 catches, 55 yards, TD). When I played there, they pretty much came to every home game, so that’ll be good having them there. “I’m super excited for Tyler and Coach Gruden, both going back to Cincinnati.
Four takeaways: Defense needs some work; rookie Robinson a keeper
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars didn’t win over any fans with a lackluster 31-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins Thursday night at TIAA Bank Field. The defense was gashed by the Dolphins on the first drive, then Ryan Fitzpatrick did most of the damage on the second drive. James Robinson is a keeper (Part 2)Last week, I mentioned Robinson as a guy who had proven himself through the first two weeks. Thursday night as the Jaguars were trying to find some rhythm on offense, Robinson was the most productive player. The defense needs to make some playsIn the opener, the Jaguars defense made some plays, led by CJ Henderson.

According to the arrest affidavit, Wilson told the officer he was having issues with a back tire, which caused the crash. 29 pick overall in April out of Georgia currently is on the reserve-COVID list for the second time. Minshew, defense shine as Jaguars thump Titans 20-7
Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II (15) throws a pass against the Titans during the second half of Thursday night's game. Playing on a short week that was overshadowed by the Ramsey drama, the Jaguars got two quick touchdown passes from Gardner Minshew II and rolled over the Titans 20-7 on a rainy Thursday night at TIAA Bank Field. He drove Jacksonville down the field and set up a 48-yard field goal by Josh Lambo for a 20-7 edge and some breathing room. Minshew (20 of 30, 204 yards) became just the second quarterback in Jaguars history to throw a touchdown pass in his first three NFL games. But Jacksonville hemmed in Henry most of the game until his 1-yard touchdown run with 12:04 to play.
Four takeaways: Ramsey doesn't miss a beat in much-needed win
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey (20) tries to strip the ball from the hands of Titans wide receiver A.J. Ramsey's night: All eyes were on Jalen Ramsey as he took the field before the game. Ramsey played as he usually does, making nine tackles and drawing an offensive pass interference call on Titans' wide receiver A.J. Minshew didn't miss a beat, finishing the game 20 of 30 for 204 yards and two touchdowns and further adding to his budding legend. What the result means for the rest of the season: Not to overstate it, but Thursday night's win saved the season.
