2 men hospitalized in unrelated Jacksonville shootings
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police officers are investigating two shootings in two separate Jacksonville neighborhoods Thursday night. In the first shooting, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said police were sent to Claremore Avenue near West Beaver Street on the Westisde around 5:30 p.m. Lt. Paris said officers found a man who had suffered a serious injury and that man was hospitalized for treatment. There was no information about the victim, who was believed to be about 30 years old. At about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to an unrelated shooting in the Arlington neighborhood. The Sheriff’s Office determined the shooting occurred at a residence nearby on Justina Terrace.
Police: Man in 60s shot several times, body pulled from water
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in a lake Saturday off West Beaver Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. Investigators said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was assisting police with an abandoned vehicle that was found on someones property. During a search of the area, police said, FWC officers found the mans body. Its believed the man is between 60 and 70 years old, police said. When the body was pulled from the lake, they found hed been shot several times.

JSO responds to a shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriffs Office responded to a reported shooting on West Beaver Street near Ednalee Road. Doug Molina says JSO was called to a house at 2:45 a.m. Monday. JSO had no suspect information during a 6 a.m. news conference. Molina said police are still working to notify the dead mans family. Police said multiple people were in the area at the time and officers are interviewing them about the shooting.
Man walking on West Beaver Street hit by pickup truck
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man walking along West Beaver Street was injured Monday morning when he hit by a pickup truck near the intersection with Jim Wright Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The driver of the pickup truck saw the pedestrian about 7:20 a.m. and tried to maneuver around him but somehow the pedestrian changed position as the pickup was passing and was hit by the right front side of the truck. Traffic homicide detectives in charge of the investigation said the driver of the pickup and a child passenger were not injured in the crash. The driver stopped and Jacksonville firefighters were on the scene quickly because of another call nearby, police said. Police said the area is known as a high fatality crash area and conducts frequent traffic deployments because of that.

Man killed in stabbing on Jacksonville's Westside
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville police are searching for a woman suspected of stabbing and killing a man on Jacksonville's Westside. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the incident took place on Kingston Street, just off West Beaver Street just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Police interviewed the two men who were with the man when the stabbing took place. They told police the suspect was a woman who left the area in a dark-colored car. Teenage girl found shot to death in Whitehouse home, family says
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A teenager was found shot to death Friday afternoon in a Whitehouse home, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. The teenage girl was identified as 17-year-old Alayshia Powe (pictured), who attended Ed White High School, by family members, including by a man who said he was her grandfather. Its unclear what led to the shooting, but Powe's death has left relatives and neighbors heartbroken. Powes death comes just two weeks before a family reunion in Atlanta. No suspects were identified by police, but Powe's family members said they were told by the lead detective that a male suspect is in custody.
Police: Man inside Jaguar killed in drive-by shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man was killed in a drive-by shooting early Friday afternoon in Robinson's Addition, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Investigators believe there was a drive-by shooting as the victim was arriving home. The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate three drive-by shootings that happened last weekend in the city. Driver cut out of pickup after plowing into back of box truck
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A driver was seriously injured Wednesday morning when his pickup truck slammed into the back of a box truck at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and West Beaver Street, police said. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck didn't stop for the vehicles ahead and plowed into the back of the box truck. The impact caused the Mercedes and Cadillac in the lane next to the box truck to be damaged by the pickup truck and flying debris. The 58-year-old male driver of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be cut out of the truck by firefighters. The box truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
