JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Nassau County and northern Duval County has been cancelled. Showers and some light sprinkles will last into the overnight hours with a 70% chance of rain targeting areas along I-10. Locations around and north of Jacksonville should see more rain especially across Georgia. A strong cold front will push across the area Thursday with a good chance of rain and possible thunderstorms. This strong front brings weekend days down to the 50s and freezing inland temperatures at night.

A 46-year-old Nassau County man died after he was struck by a car early Friday morning near Bryceville, authorities said. The deadly crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. along County Road 121 near Horseshoe Drive, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. Troopers said the unnamed man was walking along the shoulder of CR 121 when he walked into the path of a southbound car. He died of his injuries. The driver, a 19-year-old man from St. Marys, Georgia, was not hurt.

The fire, named West Power Line Fire," started just west of Highway 301 and Big Oaks Road in Nassau County. The FFS said it has four tractor plow units working to contain the fire and its containment, as of 6:45 p.m. was at 80%. Crews have successfully placed a firebreak line around the fire, FFS said, and no structures are being threatened. In an update Saturday evening FFS said they were no longer worried about the fire due to the rain and the effective line. Crews are no longer actively working the scene, but if you are in the area, FFS asks to please exercise caution.

BRYCEVILLE, Fla. - A 75-year-old Jacksonville man died Tuesday morning when the truck he was driving overturned in Bryceville, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The single-vehicle crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. at U.S. Highway 301 and Otis Road (County Road 119). According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of the Mack truck was traveling west on Otis Road and failed to observe a posted stop sign at the U.S. 301 intersection. The roof of the truck and the top of the trailer then collided with a guardrail, troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol report, it's unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.

YULEE, Fla. - A 19-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested Tuesday after a months-long investigation into obscene photos being sent to a child living in Bryceville, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. The investigation dates back to Dec. 14, 2018, when the Sheriff's Office received a complaint about the child receiving several obscene photos from an adult male. According to the arrest report, social media posts revealed explicit conversations between the child and Trey Roberts from Jacksonville. The conversations were sexual in nature with photographs being exchanged. After investigation a warranted search of several social media sites, an arrest warrant was issued for the Roberts, he was arrested for transmission of materials harmful to minors.

CALLAHAN, Fla. – On Saturday, April 15, a fundraiser will be held in to raise money for those who lost homes in the Bryceville fires in March. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m at AA Bottled Gas at 450044 State Road 200 in Callahan. Organizers will be selling half chicken dinners or pork plates for $10. Whole pork butts can be preordered for $35. Originally, organizers were asking for donations of clothes, canned goods, and gift certificates, but now say they are no longer in need of clothes thanks to the amount collected by churches and schools.
