Early football signing period โ23: Dozens of big name area players will sign Wednesday
Wednesday marks the first of three days this month where high school football players can sign national letters of intent with colleges. The area is poised to have a significant number of players sign this week instead of waiting until national signing day on Feb. 7, 2024

News4JAX hands out a list of questions to high school football players before the start of every season covering a variety of topics. This year, we received responses from nearly 110 players. Players are asked to not vote for their own team or teammates on select questions. This is what they had to tell us.

(2) Ridgeview (7-1, Class 4A)Notable win: Bartram Trail, Fletcher, Paxon, West Nassau. (4) Trinity Christian (6-0, Class 2A)Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Providence. It escaped what would have been a bad loss by edging winless Suwannee (15-14) but rebounded from that scare with a 13-2 rout of Bartram Trail.

Not a whole lot of room for concerns for West Nassau.

High school football 2020: Bartram-Oakleaf, Trinity-Lee lead way in Week 8
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Itโs Week 8 of the high school football season and we take a look at the top games and full schedule for area teams. RB Azeh Kani has seen a heavier workload (457 rushing yards, 2 TDs) as Kade Frew has battled back from injury. Miller has passed (728 yards, 7 TDs) and run the ball (714 rushing yards, 10 TDs) exceptionally well. WRs Terrance Anthony (552 receiving yards, 6 TDs) and Cobie Bates (438 yards, 5 TDs) are a nightmare to account for. Trinity Christian (4-1) at Lee (4-0), 6 p.m.: Another contender for game of the week status.

All-American honor for Davis adds to Trinity legacy
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The latest in a long, long line of stellar Trinity Christian defensive backs took his place among the best of them on Tuesday. Davis is the most recent in what has evolved into Defensive Back Academy off of Hammond Boulevard. Davis knows that pipeline well and saidโThey taught me a lot,โ he said of former Trinity defensive backs who have returned to the school during his time there. Davis was a freshman during Wadeโs senior season in 2016, a year that culminated in just about every honor imaginable for Wade, also an Army All-American. Davis finished his season with 26 tackles, an interception and 10 passes defensed.
Playoff RPI standings firm up as season winds down
The Florida High School Athletic Association released its Week 10 playoff RPI ratings on Tuesday afternoon with only minor changes. Trinity closes its season at Raines on Friday and will lock up a playoff spot with a victory. 5 seed in the playoff bracket since Lee (.607) will win the district with a victory over one-win Gainesville. In 1-8A, Mandarin (.593) is in ninth place in RPI, just .03 behind a playoff spot and No. Week 10 Playoff RPI standings (*indicate team has clinched district title, top four seed in playoffs)Region 1-8A: 2.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A glance at five games to watch in Week 9 of the high school football season. District games indicated by an * and district records shown where applicable. ThursdayLee (5-2) at Trinity Christian (3-5), 7 p.m.: One of nine Thursday night games and one the area's best in Week 9. FridayBaldwin (7-1) at University Christian (6-1), 7:30 p.m.: One of the best matchups in Week 9 comes in this game between smaller programs. The Saints aren't eliminated from the district race yet, but they need to end their three-game losing streak in a hurry.
Week 5 Snaps: Trinity finally puts things together; UC steps up
He knew that his Trinity Christian football team was going to endure some losses. Entering their Week 5 game against state power Miami Carol City, the Conquerors, at 1-3, were reeling in the win-loss column. Trinity then promptly went out and eviscerated Carol City 42-21 in a running clock game that wasn't remotely that close. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - High school football season begins this week and News4Jax takes a look at the 10 best matchups of the season, as well as the top games by county. Sept. 13, Plantation American Heritage at Trinity Christian, 7:30: Both teams are nationally ranked and have state championship aspirations, Trinity in 3A and Heritage in 5A. Sept. 20, Miami Carol City at Trinity Christian, 7:30: The five-time champion and nationally ranked Chiefs meet the seven-time champion and nationally ranked Conquerors. Oct. 11, Trinity Christian at Colquitt County, Ga., 8 p.m.: The Conquerors pay a visit to Moultrie to face a three-time state champ, and the program that was recognized by High School Football America as the national champ in 2015. Oct. 25, Trinity Christian at Raines, 6 p.m.: Two-time defending state champ Vikings, who move up to Class 5A, host the presumptive 3A title favorite Conquerors.
Trinity baseball coach Gil Morales leaving for job at Calvary Christian
Trinity Christians Gil Morales accepted the head coaching position at Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian on Tuesday, joining a progam that has won two state titles since 2016. It's a different path for Morales, whose previous high school head coaching jobs were building, or rebuilding programs. Morales, 43, is one of the most accomplished baseball coaches in area history. Morales left the area for three seasons for the top job at Windermere Prep before returning and helping rebuild the program at Trinity. Jacksonville baseball people dont realize the coaches in Jacksonville are really, really good.
