Thatโs the message Jacksonville housing officials have for the landlords of a troubled apartment complex that the News4JAX I-TEAM first exposed last month. City leaders tell the I-TEAM that management at the Cascade Apartments in Grand Park has been told to correct all problems by Saturday otherwise affected residents can withhold their rent.

JSO: Person shot in the Northside
JSO says a person was shot in Jacksonville's northside. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office reports a person was shot in the northside. The incident happened near the 3600 block of Effee Street, between the Grand Park and Moncrief Park neighborhoods on Saturday night. Police have not identified the victim, or their condition. JSO is scheduled to hold a briefing on the incident at 10:55 p.m.We will let you know the latest on the investigation as soon as we know more.

FHP: Pedestrian struck & killed while walking on US-1
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A woman died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on US-1 in the Grand Park neighborhood, early Sunday morning. Florida Highway Patrol says the SUV was traveling Northbound on US-1, just south of N Canal Street at around 1:15 a.m., when it struck the unidentified female pedestrian with the right-side front of the vehicle. Troopers report the woman was walking Southbound on the Northbound lane of US-1, towards oncoming traffic, when the incident happened. The female pedestrian died on the scene. The driver and passenger both stayed on the scene, and are cooperating with investigators.

Jacksonville artists paint murals with teens in Grand Park
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Several Jacksonville artists volunteered their time to paint murals with teenagers from the community on Saturday at the Kings Ridge Apartments in Grand Park. Its part of the Kings Teen Stop the Violence Program funded by the Kids Hope Alliance. "When we started painting it is when we saw it could bring better hope to our community," Nayshawn said. Jenn Dews is with the Jacksonville Community Coalition Inc."The residents come out and check on the walls on a regular basis to make sure nobody is damaging them," Dews said. The murals are thanks to a $10,000 grant the coalition received from the Kids Hope Alliance.

Teenage boy wounded when shots fired at Grand Park home
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriffs Office is investigating after a teenage boy was shot in the Grand Park area Saturday night. The boy was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from his wounds. Thats when the teenage boy was shot. One neighbor said they didnt know the shots were so close until they saw the police arrive on the scene. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A young boy in Jacksonville's Grand Park area is recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The shooting happened in the area of Flag Street and Kings Road. The Jacksonville Sheriff Office said officers responded to the scene just after 10 p.m.Police said the boy was approached and shot by a man wearing a red, white and blue jacket. If the police have to come from a substation to respond to a shot, the people are already gone. Church helps students get ready for school with backpacks, clothes
A local community, Hebron Community Church in Grand Park, is stepping up to help. "We're not just a church in the community, so we serve as a partner," said Stanley Platts, pastor at Hebron Community Church in the Grand Park community. More than 150 backpacks and 600 pieces of clothes were given away for elementary to high school students. Any remaining supplies the Hebron Community Church has will be made available. More than 350 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given out to families in need.
