The seat belt recall covers 624,000 2019 through 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. GM says in government documents that the seat belt brackets may not have been secured to the seat frame. GM will notify owners starting Feb. 1 and dealers will inspect the seat belt brackets and assemble them correctly.

Exploding Takata inflators caused the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history, with at least 63 million inflators recalled. NHTSA hired air bag chemical expert Harold Blomquist, who holds 25 air bag patents, to review the data, and he concluded that the GM air bags were similar to other Takata inflators that had exploded. Test results for the GM inflators included abnormally high-pressure events “indicative of potential future rupture risk,” NHTSA said in documents. “These findings illustrate that GM's inflators have a similar, if not identical, degradation continuum” to other Takata inflators that have exploded, the agency wrote.

Ten new hand sanitizer products have been added to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s growing recall list. The FDA’s list of potentially unsafe on ineffective hand sanitizing produce is now up to 212 is warning consumers not to use 212 either due to methanol contamination or because they contain “concerningly low levels of ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, which are active ingredients in hand sanitizer products.”Methanol, which is used in fuel, solvents and antifreeze, is poisonous to humans and substantial exposure could “result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death,” the FDA warns. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said you should use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% isopropyl. Full list of hand sanitizing products to avoid:

DETROIT – Ford is recalling more than 700,000 vehicles in North America because the backup cameras can show distorted images or suddenly go dark. The recall covers most 2020 versions of Ford’s F-Series trucks, as well as the 2020 Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge. F-Series trucks are the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. The company says in documents posted Wednesday by the U.S. government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a poor electrical connection is causing the problem. Ford says it doesn’t know of any crashes or injuries caused by the problem.

Publix announced that Fresh Express is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Fresh Express 11.5-ounce Southwest Chopped Kit. Publix said the problem is that wheat, soy, cashews, and coconut might be in some of the salad kits, but arent listed on the labels. The salads were sold this month in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Publix lists further details of the products affected on its website.
