Celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the moon landing
Take a seat in our starship, the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium, and relive the tremendous excitement of the Apollo missions to the Moon and the first ever lunar landing! On Saturday, July 16 at MOSH, local indie space rock band Skyview will deliver an immersive rock show celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the momentous Moon landing. Experience original songs inspired by the Space Race come to life as theyโre synched with lasers, lights, and historic footage during this epic performance that will send you soaring through space!
Steam Punk Soiree Mini Comic Con at the MOSH | River City Live
MOSH just opened a new exhibit within their walls called DaVinci Machines & Robotics.ย It is focused on drawings and inventions created by the artist.ย Attendees will be amazed by DaVinciโs prolific creations.ย Many were kept secret because he didnโt feel like the public during his time could wrap their minds around such things as humans flying and more.ย This weekend, attendees can experience the exhibit along with a number of CosPlayers, vendors, food, beverages and more as part of the Steam Punk Soiree - Mini Comic Con.ย Rance zoomed in to find out more of what the party vibe will be like.
LOL Jax Film Festival | River City Live
The LOL Jax Film Festival Part V pops off this weekend at the MOSH Friday and Sunday evening. ย LOL stands for Laugh Out Loud for the comedic film festival aspect, but more so Loving Our Locals. The festival features local Jacksonville creatives in a variety of ways.ย Obviously filmmakers and actors get to shine, but local comedians and bands also get to showcase their skills.ย There will be limited spacing and masks required, so getting tickets ASAP is paramount to support your locals.

Jaguars owner Khan gives MOSH $5 million gift as it looks to new location
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Jaguars owner Shad Khan and his family are giving a $5 million gift to the Museum of Science and History as it prepares to build a new facility in the area. MOSH announced on Oct. 15 that it was planning to move its location from the Southbank Riverwalk and build a new museum at the Shipyards. The museum started the MOSH Genesis capital campaign last year in hopes of raising $20 million in support. The museum initially planned to expand, announcing in March 2019 that its MOSH 2.0 vision would take it from 77,000 square feet to 120,000 square feet in its current location. 66 by Forbes with a net worth of $7.8 billion, but he is investing heavily in a new-look downtown area.

MOSH announces plans for new museum at Shipyards property
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) announced plans to build a new museum at the Shipyards property on the Northbank of Downtown Jacksonville, a release said. The new facility would replace current plans to renovate and expand the Museumโs existing building. โThe presentation of a new site option at the Shipyards property provides an exciting opportunity to reconsider how we will serve Northeast Floridaโs citizens and visitors in the years ahead.โMuseum leaders anticipate pre-construction activity could begin in 2021. Construction costs for the new museum will be paid with funds from the MOSH 2.0 capital campaign. โThe next iteration of MOSH will serve as a transformative center for science, innovation and humanities in Downtown," Jill Davis, Chair of the MOSH 2.0 campaign cabinet, said.

President of Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville resigns
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Theres a new president in charge of the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville. Maria Hane who was president of MOSH for more than 11 years is stepping down to take care of a sick family member. However, Hanes exit is a bittersweet moment for the MOSH community and especially to those who know her best. President since 2009, it still wasnt an easy decision for Hane to make especially while looking back on some of her most hard-won accomplishments. Interim President Bruce Fafard will take over leadership while the MOSH board searches for a full-time replacement.
