EF-2 tornado spawned near Kings Bay had peak wind speeds of 130 mph
As Tropical Storm Elsa moved across North Florida and into Southeast Georgia, the system brought with it heavy rains and wind gusts -- enough to spawn a tornado that resulted in more than a dozen injuries at an RV park near Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
Georgia governor issues state of emergency in preparation for Elsa
The portion of the Georgia coast south of Brunswick is under a tropical storm warning, with forecasters expecting Hurricane Elsa to bring tropical storm conditions with sustained winds of 40 mph to 50 mph in parts of southeast Georgia.

This comes after the state passed its election reform law last week. Some Georgia voters believe the new bill provides election security, while others feel it’s voter suppression. Local activists say the law hurts minority voters and feel it’s crucial to look at pulling major events from the state. I think it’s important,” said Sean Grey, who supports the election reform law.

Gov. Kemp tours Waycross vaccination site, gets his shot
WAYCROSS, Ga. – In an effort to encourage Georgians outside the metro Atlanta area to get vaccines, Gov. Brian Kemp traveled to Waycross on Friday afternoon to tour the mass vaccination site at the Waycross Mall and then receive his COVID-19 vaccine. The largest vaccination site in Southeast Georgia opened just over a week ago.
