12-year-old girl, 15-year-old boy located safe
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A 12-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy that were subject of a search on Sunday have been found safe, the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office said. The girl was reported missing in Lexington, North Carolina, on Friday. Davidson County Sheriffโs Office investigators say they are not sure of her connection to Jacksonville, but when she was seen Saturday evening with a Jacksonville teenager on Saturday evening, local police joined the search. When JSO announced the juveniles were found, they did not say where or the circumstances. The front desk woman did not say what the motive for that was.
Man, woman found dead in house in Biltmore neighborhood
Police said the man and woman, believed to be in their 50s, were shot multiple times. According to police, a friend who went to check on them made the discovery inside the home in the Biltmore neighborhood. Police will be reviewing neighborsโ surveillance video, as well as surveillance video from cameras at the house where the two were found dead. Three neighbors told News4Jax that they heard multiple gunshots late Sunday night but didnโt know where the shots were being fired. Fuel tanker fire shuts down I-10 Christmas Eve morning
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Jacksonville firefighters battled a fuel tanker fire on I-10 westbound early Christmas Eve morning. The tanker was carrying 6,000 gallons of gasoline and 2,500 gallons of diesel when flames sparked. All westbound lanes of I-10 at Hammond Boulevard were closed while crews transfered the fuel. Otherwise, traffic is being redirected onto the 295 exit. If you follow the latter route, youโll need to use 295 northbound to exit to Commonwealth Avenue, go left on Commonwealth, and then use Picketville Road south to get to US 90.
I-295 gridlocked early Tuesday morning due to crash
Memorial Park Road was closed at I-295 as well. Drivers were diverted to take Commonwealth Avenue to get to I-10 and then exit to I-295 to continue North. Deadly crash robs father of chance to reconnect with daughter
The womanโs father identified her as Gabby Pendergrass. (WJXT)Charles Pendergrass said his relationship with his daughter became estranged when she was a child and Gabby was raised by his sister. โIโm trying to cope with it.โHe said itโs extremely difficult because the hit-and-run crashed robbed them from their chance to reconnect as father and daughter. Iโm trying, but I donโt know how," Charles Pendergrass said. โThat traffic light, youโve got to pay 100% attention as a driver for pedestrians trying to cross the street because itโs on a bend,โ Jefferson said.
Deadly hit-and-run on Lane Avenue, Police investigating
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A 25-year-old woman was killed in a deadly hit-and-run accident while crossing Lane Avenue on Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. The woman was crossing Lane Avenue when she was struck by the hit-and-run driver who was traveling Northbound, according to JSO. The Sheriffโs Office says the incident was captured by nearby video. JSO Traffic Homicide is leading a further investigation into this deadly hit-and-run accident. Police: 4 in custody after woman claims she was being forced to rob Westside bank
Jacksonville police said a woman in her 30s entered the SunTrust Bank on South Lane Avenue about 9:50 a.m. and sat down in a waiting area. While writing a note, she told a bank employee she was being forced to rob the bank by three people who were sitting outside in an SUV. Police said the woman inside the bank, who they learned had a weapon, was also detained. Taylor Kellenberg was arriving at the bank just after the attempted robbery. This is the 10th robbery or attempted robbery of a bank in Jacksonville this year, according to News4Jax records.
