Authorities: Jacksonville teacher accused of attempting to engage student in sex act
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A Jacksonville high school teacher was arrested Friday on charges related to an incident involving a student, authorities said. According to a news release from the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office, Clark was accused of attempting to engage a student in a sex act. AdThe student told police Clark showed up at their home about five minutes later and the pair met up at a gas station nearby. Based on the heavily redacted report, itโs unclear what else Clark and the student told police. A statement from Duval County Public Schools reads: โWe are monitoring this situation as a human resources matter.
Ribault High math teacher facing charges involving student
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A math teacher at Ribault High School appeared for a bond hearing Saturday morning on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and offenses against students by authority figures. Jason Jamall Camaron Clark, 28, was ordered to be held on $90,000 bond. He is listed as a mathematics teacher on the Ribault High school website. In court, Clark told the judge, โI just moved here from Kansas City, Missouri, due to my mother passing. Iโve been a teacher for four years and have never had anything like this occur.โClark was ordered to have no contact with the victim or any children.
Records suggest shooting that killed Jacksonville teen was retaliation
Wyche was found dead March 19, 2020, by police called to a shooting near Portsmouth Avenue and Norfolk Boulevard, one of five killings in Jacksonville that week. AdPolice said at the time that a grey car was seen pulling up in front of Wycheโs vehicle before two men got out and opened fire with an AK-47. Roland Ball and Xavion Porter both face murder charges in connection with 17-year-old Inandi Wyche's killing. According to a redacted copy of Ballโs arrest warrant, the 21-year-old was identified as one of the individuals involved in Wycheโs killing, a deadly shooting that police believe was retaliation for the shooting of Daquan Saxton. Saxton, 20, was killed March 17, 2020, in a shooting that took place three blocks away.
Robert Williams honored as All-Star Athlete
Robert Williams is on the track and football teams at Jean Ribault High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is in Ribaultโs Early College Program. Robertโs volunteer work includes attending food drives at St. Paul Baptist Church. Robert currently has a 4.3 G.P.A.
Ribault High School screening students with metal detectors
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Ribault High School began using walk-through metal detectors to screen students Monday to ensure the safety of students and staff after a student was shot Friday, Principal Gregory Bostic told parents. The shooting happened about 1:45 p.m. Friday as multiple students were in the weight room, according to an arrest report obtained by News4Jax. Christopher Caster, 18, was taken into custody Friday on charges of possession of a firearm on school property and carrying a concealed firearm. Sources told News4Jax the gun accidentally fired was he was showing it off, and there was no intent to shoot anyone. โThis will include mandatory screening of all students using metal detectors.โ

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A student at Ribault High School was hospitalized Friday afternoon after โa discharge of a firearmโ at the school and another student who was found with a gun was arrested, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Ribaultโs principal, Gregory Bostic, sent parents a message that the student was shot in the arm. Officers at Fletcher High School, which Ribault is playing in a football game Friday night, were aware of the incident and were on high alert. Bostic said this incident does not represent the students of Ribault High School. But, I know what happened today does not represent our students here at John Ribault High School," he said.
Jacksonville sheriff: Vest saves life of officer shot
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A police officer was shot Monday morning while assisting the Drug Enforcement Administration in serving a high-risk search warrant in a neighborhood off Moncrief Road, authorities said. The Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office SWAT team member was released from the hospital within hours and is recovering at home, Sheriff Mike Williams said. Williams said the veteran officer was hit several times, but the shots landed on his ballistics vest, and the officer managed to return fire. โWhen you ask for the SWAT team, youโre talking about a high-profile takedown," Jefferson said. The sheriff said SWAT officers spend 20-30% of their on-duty time training to prepare them for high-risk situations.
City leaders, school board members rally behind half-cent sales tax to fix schools
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Instead of city leaders and school board members bad mouthing each other and threating lawsuits, it now seems all sides are somewhat in agreement when it comes to a new half-cent sales tax to fix Duval Countyโs dilapidated schools. Priestly Jackson said the council supports the school board and its decision. There was controversy last year when the City Council held off placing the measure on the ballot. For now, the School Board is on a wait and see approach, it all depends on what the City Council does next. While all sides seem to agree on the issue, there could be some changes once City Council begins its debate over the next month.
Ribault product Davis getting better and better for Lady Vols hoops team

She won three state titles at Ribault and led the Trojans to the Dickโs Sporting Goods national tournament title in 2016.

Personnel file shows Ribault coach resigned from teaching position
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A personnel file obtained Monday shows the head coach at Ribault High School asked to resign from his teaching position last month but wished to continue coaching. On Saturday, News4Jax learned the Trojans head coach was removed from his position. "I would like to continue as the head Football Coach to build on the tradition of Scholar Athletes at Jean Ribault High School," Smith wrote in the resignation letter dated July 16. Ribault High School football players returned to class Monday, and the Trojans are scheduled to play their first game Thursday.
