The Florida Attorney General’s Office announced it was beginning an investigation into sex crimes inside Florida’s Catholic churches in October 2018. Tom Willis, the pastor of Cathedral Basilica at St. Augustine -- where the incident allegedly happened -- in October 2019. Ultimately, the St. Augustine Police Department closed that investigation after multiple attempts to contact the family that made the complaint. Cox said that after finding out about the allegations against Morgan from an informant, he called attorneys for the Diocese of St. Augustine. A 25-year-old St. Augustine man suspected in the rape of a 13-year-old girl was arrested Friday in Suwannee County, authorities said. Marshals Task Force and Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office took Hunter Dylan Jones Buck into custody after locating him in Live Oak, the St. Augustine Police Department tweeted Friday afternoon. At last check Friday, he remained in custody at the Suwannee County jail, where he’s being held without bond. ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night when authorities said he pointed a gun at a St. Augustine police offer and a St. Johns County deputy who responded to a domestic disturbance call at a condominium on Masters Drive. Chuck Mulligan, with the Sheriff’s Office, said the call came in shortly after 9 p.m. and deputies responded as a backup. Kevin Carroll and St. Johns County Deputy Kristapher James. Neither were injured and the Sheriff’s Office said this is the first officer-involved shooting event for both of them. Records show Acosta was arrested a dozen times in the last 10 years in St. Johns County.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Augustine Police Department is working to equip its officers with body-worn cameras by December. The department has signed a contract with Axon Enterprise, which is the same company the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office uses for its body cams. The contract includes 60 sets of cameras and stun guns at a cost just over $150,000. The St. Augustine Police Department expects to begin using the body cameras within the first 10 days of December. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has not added body cameras.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A man's body was discovered Wednesday morning in the San Sebastian River, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife. The St. Augustine Police Department said the body was found in the intercoastal waterway behind Cats Paw Marina just after 8 a.m. They have not released the man's identity but said FWC officials said it did not appear to be related to any boating incidents. ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A motorcyclist was killed Monday in an overnight crash on the Bridge of Lions. Officers with the St. Augustine Police Department said someone called around 2:23 a.m. after hearing a loud crash near the bridge. When officers arrived, they found two people had been thrown from a motorcycle on the east end of the bridge. The driver, according to police, was taken to Flagler Hospital where he later died. The passenger on the motorcycle was listed in stable condition at Flagler Hospital.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The St. Augustine Police Department is investigating after acts of graffiti were reported at the city marina and at several locations on Anastasia Island. On Monday night, officers were sent to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina in reference to criminal mischief in the men's restorrm. Marina staff said a stall sink was pulled out of the wall and broken into pieces. On Tuesday morning, officers responded to several locations on Anastasia Island after someone reported graffiti. Officers found approximately 29 locations.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The St. Augustine Police Department is conducting an investigation after graffiti was discovered on Anastasia Island in the Davis Shore area Tuesday. Authorities said 30 locations were discovered with graffiti and that nobody has been taken into custody. The department is also investigating mischief to a public restroom at a city marina.
