The Atlanta Falcons have run out of time to control their path to the playoffs after mismanaging the clock multiple times in an overtime loss at the Washington Commanders.

It was a refresher course for anyone who watched the versatile tight end play last season. Pitts and several teammates — most notably quarterback Kyle Trask, cornerback Marco Wilson and receivers Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes — worked out for talent evaluators from 31 of 32 NFL teams. AdIt’s still entirely possible for Pitts to be the highest-drafted tight end in the modern era (since 1970). “He’s a different bird than what a traditional tight end has been or certainly has been when I played,” said Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell, a tight end who played 11 NFL seasons.

Spring football practice has officially wrapped up, and you’ve got to feel good that Florida got in a full camp unlike last year. “You would have to say yes,” Mullen said when asked if Emory Jones is the starting quarterback going into the offseason. But Mullen also mentioned he doesn’t think about it that way because two quarterbacks need to be prepared to start. 👍 Running backs, linebackers impressed this springMullen said he feels really good about the running backs and linebackers coming out of spring. If spring is any indication, Florida has some newfound depth there as both Hopper and Wingo made plays all spring.

It just so happens that the draft features a potential generational talent at that position in former University of Florida star Kyle Pitts. Since Gainesville is only a short drive from Jacksonville, many Jaguars fans have been watching Pitts all season. If the Jaguars want to land Pitts, they will have to find a way to at least move up into the top 10. The 10th pick is worth a value of 1300, while the Jaguars 25th pick is worth only 720. Is Pitts worth two first-rounds picks and two second-round picks?

National champion Alabama has five players leaving early after beating Ohio State in the CFP title game on Jan. 11, with All-America quarterback Jones and linebacker Dylan Moses both early graduates. The 30 players with college eligibility remaining after completing their degree requirements had to notify the NFL of their intentions for the draft. Players less than four years removed from high school who have not completed a degree need to be granted special entry to the draft by the NFL. Trask could end up near the top of that list if he continues to develop at his current pace. Trask accounted for 29 touchdowns the most at Florida since Tebow in 2008 and threw just seven interceptions.

It also could be Mullen taking over-the-top precaution as the eighth-ranked Gators get ready to begin a championship-or-bust season. We have the potential to go compete for a championship and be a championship team, said Mullen, who is 21-5 in two seasons in Gainesville. But I think we have that potential, which is really good and its really exciting. Florida won 10 games in Mullens first season and 11 in Year 2.
