60-year-old man dies in Putnam County crash
A 60-year-old man died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in Putnam County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the unidentified driver from Interlachen was traveling south on County Road 315 in the area of Spring Lake Drive around 6:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road to the left south of Spring Lake Drive and overturned in a ditch east of County Road 315. The man was not wearing his seatbelt, according to FHP.

2 charged in 2019 shooting death of Putnam County man
INTERLACHEN, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced the arrest of two men in connection with the 2019 shooting death of a 21-year-old man in Interlachen. Hargrove was extradited from Ohio to Putnam County where he was charged with homicide and remains in the Putnam County Jail on a $105,000 bond. Howell was arrested on June 4 on the charge of homicide and remains in the Putnam County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The vehicle pulled from the parking area and onto State Road 20 at a high rate of speed, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Two other suspects are under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said, but were not identified.

INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Two men were arrested last week after threatening a detective at an Interlachen-area home, where deputies also found drugs and guns, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said, a detective went to a home on Dove Street to find a person whose court-ordered ankle monitor was showing a critical battery alarm. The detective aimed his firearm at Schultz while repeatedly giving commands to drop the weapon but both men "initially ignored the commands and continued to advance” on the detective, the Sheriff’s Office said. He also denied any threats toward the detective, despite the detective writing in an arrest report that he felt his life was in imminent danger. Friday was not the first time that the Sheriff’s Office responded to the home.
FHP: Putnam County hit-and-run leaves pedestrian in critical condition

Troopers found a pedestrian in critical condition in Interlachen, at the intersection of Fowler Street and Guy Avenue. Police believe a green Dodge Durango was traveling west on Fowler Street when it struck the pedestrian. Officers also found a passenger side-view mirror lying on the ground. Deputies: Father of 2 arrested following narcotics raid in Putnam County
INTERLACHEN, Fla. – A father of two children was arrested and charged with drug possession and child neglect after a raid at a home in Interlachen, according to a report from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. William Cook III, 45, of Interlachen, was arrested during a narcotics search at a home on Stuart Avenue where deputies located suspicious items believed to have been used during the sale of illegal narcotics, the report said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found meth, two morphine pills, several firearms and a bullet resistant vest. Cook’s 12-year-old daughter and 13-year old son were removed from the house by deputies during the raid, the report said. The warrant, which is partially redacted, mentions a cellphone conversation involving Cook before deputies raided his home.
Sexual assault charges dropped against Interlachen High student
INTERLACHEN, Fla. – An 18-year-old Interlachen High School student arrested in February on charges that he had sex with a 12-year-old girl is no longer facing charges, according to court documents. Roosevelt Richardson was initially charged with first-degree felony sexual assault, traveling to meet a minor and unlawful use of a communication device. Court documents filed in mid-March show that the State Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Richardson on the charges. No explanation was given for why the charges were dropped.
Deputies: Please stop sharing ‘disturbing’ school fight video
INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating a fight Friday between two Interlachen High School students that was captured on video. On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office posted a message on its Facebook page, asking anyone who has shared the video to remove it from their news feeds. The post described the video as “graphic and disturbing," saying it showed one student being repeatedly punched by another student. If a student, parent or visitor to the school sees a behavior that is harmful to another person, report it,” the Facebook post said. But at the news conference, DeLoach announced that two guns had been found in the backpack of a 13-year-old student at Jenkins Middle School in Palatka.
Putnam County officer takes loaded gun from 12-year-old at middle school
INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Putnam County deputies and school officials say a loaded gun was brought on the campus of C.H. Price Middle School in Interlachen on Tuesday. According to Sheriff Gator DeLoach, an anonymous tip was given by someone who said they believed a student had a gun. “We’re not quite sure how it fell into his hands, but I believe he may have had the gun for a couple of days actually prior to bringing it to school,” DeLoach said. Bloodhounds lead deputies to man accused of attacking 4, including a pregnant woman
Billie Wayne Wilson Jr., 30, of Hawthorn was arrested on m ultiple counts of battery, including aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, burglary and property damage. According to the arrest report, a woman family member confronted Wilson about having sex inside an Interlachen home with a woman who is pregnant with his child. According to investigators, Wilson then began to hit several people in the house, including the woman who is pregnant with his child. According to one of the victims, Wilson was last seen headed toward Royal Avenue and that’s where deputies began their search for him. Back at the home where the alleged attacks took place, paramedics tended to the pregnant woman, who was later taken by ambulance to a Shands Hospital in Gainesville for evaluation.

INTERLACHEN, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has announced the arrest of an Interlachen woman on charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, illegally placing a child for adoption and perjury. A couple from Ohio visited Scee to meet a disabled boy and were told the boy was available for adoption. While the boy was in Ohio, investigators said Scee received SNAP benefits and daycare assistance for the child totaling nearly $4,000. According to investigators, Scee ordered the boy back to Florida on Oct. 31, 2017, for her final adoption hearing, and at the hearing, Scee was granted the adoption. Scee received no money from the Ohio couple, investigators said.
