JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A cyclist was critically injured Monday in a crash involving a semi-truck on U.S. 301, authorities said. The collision happened shortly before 4 p.m. on U.S. 301 just north of where it meets Interstate 10, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers told News4Jax the cyclist was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. It wasnโt immediately clear Monday afternoon how the crash occurred.
Bicyclist killed, another critically injured in crash near Clay-Bradford County line
A bicyclist was killed and another was critically injured Saturday in a crash in Clay County near the Bradford County line. According to the Bradford County Sheriffโs Office, the crash involving one vehicle happened Saturday on U.S. 301 in Highland. 38-year-old pedestrian killed on US 301 in Starke, FHP says
STARKE, Fla. โ A 38-year-old woman died Wednesday night on U.S. 301 near the intersection of County Road 200B in Starke. Florida Highway Patrol investigators said she was killed as she walked towards a vehicle traveling north on the highway in the right lane. All northbound lanes of U.S. 301 were blocked between County Road 233 and County Road 200B during the investigation. FHP did not provide further details. Head-on crash shuts down US-301 at County Road 218 for hours
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. โ A Keystone Heights driver died in an early morning wreck on U.S. 301 south of County Road 218 when his pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another pickup head-on, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Crash investigators said the 29-year-old man was driving north at 5:45 a.m. between Lawtey and Baldwin when he lost control, cross the median and struck the southbound vehicle. #BREAKING: @FHPJacksonville is reporting at least one fatality in a multiple vehicle crash on US 301 south of CR 218. The southbound lanes remained closed past noon. Crash investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash, but roads in the area were slick from rain overnight.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. โ A 32-year-old woman was killed Friday night in a crash on U.S. 301 in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. According to troopers, the woman was driving south in the northbound lanes near County Road 218 just before 9 p.m. when she struck an SUV with three people inside, including a 5-year-old girl. FHP no longer identifies victims of traffic crashes but identified her as a resident of Starke. According to the accident report, she was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers said the crash blocked all northbound lanes of U.S. 301 near Middleburg into the early morning hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.
Work underway to provide better, safer access to U.S. 301
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ As Jacksonville continues to grow, roadway construction along Interstate 10 is underway to keep up with all that growth. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, one of the key goals is to relieve traffic back-ups and congestion along that busy stretch of highway. Part of the scope of work includes fixing and rebuilding ramps and their connections, demolishing and upgrading the overpass and creating more safe space for people to exit I-10 onto U.S. 301. With all the growth Jacksonville and its neighboring counties have seen in recent years, this roadway construction project is long overdue. But while work is underway, drivers can look forward to new ramps, a safer overpass and more space for vehicles to safely access U.S. 301 without causing major back-ups on I-10.
Jacksonville woman, 36, dies in crash on U.S. 301 in Nassau County
A 36-year-old woman died Tuesday night in a crash on U.S. 301 in Nassau County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The woman was a passenger in a car headed south on 301 just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. A pickup truck headed north on 301 turned left onto County Road 119 across the path of the car was T-boned, troopers said. The woman died at UF Health. The 36-year-old Yulee man who was driving the car was also taken to UF Health with minor injuries.
Troopers: Ohio woman, 30, killed in Bradford County crash
A 30-year-old Ohio woman was killed late Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Bradford County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the unnamed womanโs sport-utility vehicle crashed shortly before noon Friday on U.S. 301 near Southwest 59th Avenue. The SUV was heading south in the inside lane of U.S. 301 when the driver tried to pass a tractor-trailer as it was changing lanes, troopers said. The SUV flipped several times and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said. Two passengers โ a 28-year-old man and 50-year-old woman, both from Ohio โ suffered serious injuries in the wreck.
FHP: Truck driver, 75, killed in Bryceville crash
BRYCEVILLE, Fla. - A 75-year-old Jacksonville man died Tuesday morning when the truck he was driving overturned in Bryceville, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The single-vehicle crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. at U.S. Highway 301 and Otis Road (County Road 119). According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of the Mack truck was traveling west on Otis Road and failed to observe a posted stop sign at the U.S. 301 intersection. The roof of the truck and the top of the trailer then collided with a guardrail, troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol report, it's unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.
Fire-Rescue: 2 dead in Waldo crash
WALDO, Fla. - Two people died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night in the Waldo area, Alachua County Fire-Rescue said. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened about 9 p.m. on U.S. 301 near Northeast 177th Place. Deputies: Driver escapes before train collides with SUV
BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. โ The driver of an SUV was able to get out of the vehicle before it was struck by a train Thursday night, the Bradford County Sheriff's Office said. It happened at the railroad tracks crossing U.S. 301 at South Walnut Street. According to the Sheriff's Office, the SUV driver turned onto the tracks, accidentally thinking it was a side road, as a train was about to cross U.S. 301. Deputies said the driver was able to exit the SUV, but the train collided with it. As of 11:20 p.m., the train was still stopped on the tracks, causing a traffic detour on northbound and southbound U.S. 301.
FHP: Woman killed, 4 kids hurt when pickup truck flips on U.S. 301
BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. โ A woman driving a pickup truck was killed Monday when she was ejected in a rollover crash on U.S. 301 in Bradford County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. According to troopers, Lydia Pons, 30, of Macclenny, died in the crash. She was driving a Chevrolet pickup on U.S. 301 southbound near Southwest 95th Street and lost control while changing lanes about 12:30 p.m.Four children in the truck were also hurt but were wearing seat belts and survived the crash, troopers said. They included a 2-month-old boy, 2-year-old girl, 4-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy. According to the Baker County Press, Pons was the owner of Bed Bath & Barks, which is a dog grooming service in Glen St. Mary.
6 people injured after 9-vehicle crash in Starke
STARKE, Fla. โ Six people were injured, three seriously, in a nine-vehicle crash in Starke in Bradford County, just before 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened on U.S. 301 at Southeast 48th Avenue. Troopers said Glen Roberts, 48, of Miami, was traveling north when he failed to stop at a traffic signal, resulting in a crash involving nine vehicles. The current conditions of Roberts, Westling and Horowitz are unknown. The crash remains under investigation after state troopers interviewed several witnesses and tried to obtain video surveillance from the area.
