Democrat Kimberly Daniels won the most votes in a four-way August primary in the redrawn Florida House District 14, which covers from Brooklyn and downtown north to include a sliver of Northwest Jacksonville and much of the Northside east of Lem Turner Road and south of Interstate 295 as well as Arlington and part of the Southside north of the Hart Expressway to Beach Boulevard and west of Southside Boulevard.
Woman accused of firing gun at Sam’s Club faces 7 counts of assault, other charges
A 31-year-old woman accused of walking away from a crash on Beach Boulevard on Friday night before shooting her way into the Sam’s Club across the street was arrested and charged with seven counts of aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied building and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Woman killed in crash that blocked I-295 at Town Center Parkway for hours
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 28-year-old woman was struck and killed early Monday morning after she hit a guardrail along the entrance ramp to southbound Interstate 295 from Town Center Parkway and then got out of her car, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The report said the woman “exited the vehicle and began to stand on passenger side” when an SUV traveling up the ramp to southbound I-295 struck the woman and the sedan. The driver of the SUV, a 58-year-old Jacksonville Beach man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, troopers said. Due to the deadly crash, all southbound lanes of I-295 at Town Center Parkway for more than four hours, causing heavy delays for morning commuters. But they say also this is 3 in the morning and that needs to be taken into account.
Man killed, 2 women injured in wrong-way crash on I-295 near Beach Boulevard
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed and two women were seriously injured early Saturday morning in a wrong-way crash involving two cars and a tractor-trailer on I-295 near Beach Boulevard. Southbound lanes reopened at 8 p.m.FHP: Man dead, 2 women seriously injured in wrong-way crash on I-295 at Beach Blvd around 3 a.m. Southbound I-295 still closed. The 23-year-old man driving the BMW was not wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries, troopers said. Troopers said the 22-year-old woman driving the Hyundai, who is listed as being from Corpus Christi, Texas, and a 48-year-old woman driving the semi were both wearing seat belts. A deadly crash was reported Saturday morning on I-295 near Beach Boulevard.
JSO: Man arrested over deadly stabbing on Jacksonville’s Southside
Christopher Kreighbaum, 32, was arrested by JSO for the deadly stabbing off of Hodges Blvd early Saturday morning. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection to a deadly stabbing in a wooded area off Beach Boulevard near Hodges Boulevard Saturday morning. Christopher Kreighbaum, 32, was arrested for the death Saturday night, less than 24 hours after the incident. Man killed in single-vehicle crash in Jacksonville’s Southside
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man died early Friday morning after his SUV left the road and hit a parked vehicle, a utility pole and a tree on Forest Boulevard, off Beach Boulevard near Packard Drive. JSO noted there is a fork in the road at the location where the crash happened. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Police are investigating if the man fell asleep at the wheel or if drugs and alcohol were involved. A person at the scene who identified himself as the victim’s brother said the man was on his way home from work.
Driver dies in wrong-way crash on Beach Boulevard
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who crashed into a median while driving in the wrong direction on Beach Boulevard near San Pablo Road early Saturday morning has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Around 1:40 a.m., a 38-year-old man was driving east in the westbound lanes when he lost control and slammed into a tree located in the median. When News4Jax crews arrived, the sedan was sitting on a tow truck, mangled with shattered windows. Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash was cleared and all lanes have reopened.
Motorcyclist killed in crash on Atlantic Boulevard at University
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a crash on Atlantic Boulevard at the intersection of University Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. According to Lt. Flatt, with the Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was a woman who was believed to be in her 20s. Two other vehicles involved in the crash remained at the scene, Flatt said. JSO did not provide details on how the crash happened, but the crash report has been requested. The crash closed all lanes of Atlantic, westbound and eastbound.
Charges pending in crash that killed motorcyclist in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 63-year-old man is facing charges after a crash with a motorcycle on Beach Boulevard Monday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the 63-year-old was traveling eastbound on Beach Boulevard near Beachwood Boulevard when he improperly changes lanes. The 63-year-old’s van hit a motorcycle in the left lane, causing the motorcycle to travel off the roadway into the median and collide with several trees. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man, was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. The FHP crash report shows he was wearing a helmet.
