The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the boy Wednesday as Lamar Roach Jr. of Chicago and said an autopsy would be conducted Thursday. Chicago police said the boy may have pushed out a screen in the window Tuesday night before he fell from the 17th floor apartment on the city's Near North Side.

A 4-year-old boy who fell off a 70-foot cliff at Red River Gorge in eastern Kentucky suffered a few scratches and bruises, but walked away without any severe injuries, officials said. The boy and his parents were hiking near Princess Arch on Friday when he slipped fell, hitting “multiple ledges” before landing about 70 feet (21 meters) below, the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team told news outlets. When Wolfe County Search and Rescue arrived on the scene, they were relieved to find the boy alert and talking.

9-year-old boy recovering after bite at Florida beach
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A 9-year-old Minnesota boy was bitten by a shark as he body surfed in Miami Beach over the weekend, his parents said. Kristine Weiskopf told WPLG she and her son Jay were in the water for only a few minutes when the shark bit the boy. When she pulled him up, she said she saw a chunk of skin missing from his shoulder. A Miami Beach Fire Rescue crew took the child to the hospital where surgeons closed the wound, his mother said. That he’s gonna be OK,” the child’s father, Ren Weiskopf told the TV station.
Orlando waitress credited with saving boy from allegedly abusive parents

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 10-year-old Jacksonville boy reported missing on the city’s Northside was found safe Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department assisted JSO in the search, and dozens of crews set up at a command center. Shortly 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office announced the child had been found safe. She said she just wanted her happy and friendly son back home safe.
4-year-old boy reported missing, endangered in Marion County found safe
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert Saturday for a 4-month-old boy who was believed to be missing and endangered. Just after 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said the boy was found safe. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the boy was reported missing after he was last seen on Nov. 24. He was believed to be with his mother, Jennifer Rottmann. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) issued a pick-up order for the young boy, but were not able to locate him until Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A 150-pound (68-kilogram) white rhinoceros was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World in Florida over the weekend. The as-yet-named rhino was born to Kendi, who was the first white rhinoceros born at the animal theme park back in 1999. White rhinos are the second-largest land mammal and are an endangered species with a near-threatened status. Disney says it was the 11th white rhino born at Disney World, and two more are on the way. The theme park resort’s animal care team is keeping a watch on two other rhinos expected to give birth next year.

Police vow to work with probe of shooting of autistic boy
SALT LAKE CITY A police department vowed Tuesday to cooperate with multiple investigations of the shooting of a 13-year-old autistic boy by officers in the Salt Lake City area. The Salt Lake City Police Department said the officers were called to a home in Glendale, Utah, Friday night with a report of a boy who had threatened people with a weapon. The boy reportedly ran and was shot by an officer after being pursued by police. No weapon was found Friday, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. Salt Lake Mayor Erin Mendenhall said in a statement late Sunday that the shooting was a tragedy and called for a swift and transparent investigation.
FHP: 3-year-old boy walking alone hit by SUV, seriously injured
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. A 3-year-old Orange Park boy was struck by a sport utility vehicle and seriously injured Thursday evening in Clay County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to the Highway Patrol, the boy was walking alone when he tried to cross Blanding Boulevard and was struck by the SUV. Troopers said the SUV immediately stopped, and the occupants rendered aid to the child and called authorities. The Clay County Sheriffs Office is investigating why the child was alone. Troopers said the driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Middleburg woman, and the passenger in the SUV, a 22-year-old Orange Park man, were not injured.
Jacksonville police: Missing 11-year-old boy found safe
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police announced early Tuesday morning that a missing 11-year-old boy was found safe. The Missing Child Alert was first issued about 9:10 a.m. Sunday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. On Monday, people in the complex, where Keavon’s photo on missing posters are posted, were hopeful he’ll be found safe. “Sometimes 11-year-olds want to do what they want to do, but this is something to take very seriously because there’s a child missing,” a neighbor in the apartment complex said Monday. The FDLE canceled the Missing Child Alert about 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Boy hit by car in Fleming Island
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A young boy was taken to a hospital Monday after he was hit by a car while walking in a Fleming Island subdivision. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the 10-year-old boy was hit after school let out Monday afternoon on Town Center Boulevard in the Fleming Island Plantation neighborhood. The Sheriff’s Office said the boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution and was not seriously injured. No other information was immediately available.

Deputies: Teen shot in pinky after dispute in Middleburg
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A teenage boy was shot in his pinky finger in Middleburg Thursday, the Clay County Sheriff's Office said. The teenager told deputies there had been a dispute on the side of Blue Jay Drive. According to investigators, several people left the scene in an SUV and one of them fired a gun, hitting the teenager in his finger.
