The Georgia Department of Public Health on Wednesday announced the Coastal Health District’s monkeypox vaccination program was expanding.

A Georiga resident who was in New Jersey last week was identified as the first resident of the state to test positive for the omicron variant, the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) announced Friday.

Starting Monday, parents of children ages 5 to 11 can schedule appointments to get vaccinated through the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

Three clinics in the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Coastal Health District, including one in Glynn County, on Monday, Nov. 8, will begin offering pediatric doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children ages to 11.

State health officials are investigating whether E. coli was spread at the Georgia National Fair held earlier this month.

A series of free COVID-19 vaccination and testing events will be held in Camden County this week in response to a recent surge in infections, the Georgia Department of Public Health said Monday.

There are two upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled this month in Camden County, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Coastal Health District.

The health departments of the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Coastal Health District, which includes Camden and Glynn counties, are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations without appointments during specific times.

Georgia health officials are pausing all vaccinations of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine following guidance from the federal government.

The Georgia Department of Public Health late Monday began publishing a new and much more detailed online vaccine dashboard that breaks down both statewide and individual county vaccine numbers. Monday night’s posting shows 1,445,835 shots have been administered in Georgia. According to the dashboard, 74% of the nearly 2 million doses shipped to Georgia have been administered. The dashboard shows Glynn County as having the highest percentage of residents in Southeast Georgia receiving vaccines, with 25.4% having received at least one shot. ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Public Health confirms there are now 19 cases of the UK variant of COVID-19 identified in Georgia. So far, no other COVID-19 variants have been identified in Georgia. The variant cases in Georgia are in eight men and 11 women between the ages of 15 to 61. The Georgia Public Health Laboratory and several commercial labs are working to identify the presence of this variant in hundreds of specimens collected at Georgia testing locations statewide, but that is only a small percentage of the overall number of COVID-19 tests performed. According to the health department, the Georgia resident has no travel history and is isolating at home. The health department says the COVID-19 variant is significantly more contagious.
