Police responded to the Travel Lodge Inn & Suites for a reported shooting and found the woman. JSO says a woman in her early 20s has been shot at the Travel Lodge Inn & Suites on Airport Rd just after 3 am. The woman is in life-threading condition & has been taken to the hospital. Florida woman says she was lost in sewer for weeks; police skeptical
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – A woman was rescued from a Delray Beach sewer system three weeks after she was reported missing after a passerby heard her cries for help, officials said. The 43-year-old woman, who has a history of mental illness and drug abuse, told Delray Beach officers she went swimming in a flood-control canal near her boyfriend’s home March 3, the day she was reported missing, a police report released Wednesday said. In shallow water, she said she found a door, which took her into the sewer system. She said she began walking through the tunnels and became lost. She said she wandered the system for 20 days before she saw some light and walked toward it, where she found a storm drain Tuesday.
Nassau woman who coughed in face of cancer patient pleads guilty, could face jail time
Debra Jo Hunter of Fernandina Beach was booked into the Duval County jail last year and charged with misdemeanor assault, according to jail records. Hunter agreed to plead guilty on two previous hearings, but the judge rejected them because it didn’t involve jail time. Witnesses identified Hunter as a woman seen in a viral video berating store staff and coughing on another woman who filmed the incident. While watching Hunter, Sprague took out her phone and began recording. “How’s that?”Hunter can then be seen coughing on Sprague before walking out of the store with her children in tow.
Woman killed in crash that blocked I-295 at Town Center Parkway for hours
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 28-year-old woman was struck and killed early Monday morning after she hit a guardrail along the entrance ramp to southbound Interstate 295 from Town Center Parkway and then got out of her car, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The report said the woman “exited the vehicle and began to stand on passenger side” when an SUV traveling up the ramp to southbound I-295 struck the woman and the sedan. The driver of the SUV, a 58-year-old Jacksonville Beach man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, troopers said. Due to the deadly crash, all southbound lanes of I-295 at Town Center Parkway for more than four hours, causing heavy delays for morning commuters. But they say also this is 3 in the morning and that needs to be taken into account.

Authorities: Man killed in exchange of gunfire with Clay County deputies
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A man died Saturday evening after exchanging gunfire with Clay County deputies, authorities said. On Monday afternoon, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Rudy Duvivier, 32. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived about five minutes later and encountered an armed man who then began firing shots at them. Woman in motorized wheelchair robs downtown Jacksonville bank
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A bank located blocks away from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office headquarters was robbed Monday by a woman in a motorized wheelchair, authorities said. The bank robbery was reported about noon at the Regions Bank branch on Bay Street near Laura Street. Police said the woman showed up to discuss an account, but she got into an argument with a teller that escalated when she threatened to kill everyone in the bank and announced she was robbing the place, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The woman left the bank after she was given some cash, and she was taken into custody nearby a short time later, police said. No weapon was seen during the robbery, according to police, and no one inside the bank was hurt.
FHP: Woman killed, child critically injured in Putnam County crash
A 32-year-old woman was killed and a 7-year-old girl was critically injured Saturday morning in a crash on U.S. 17 in Crescent City, troopers said. According to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report, the woman was pulling out of a driveway onto U.S. 17 when she was hit by an oncoming pick-up truck. The 28-year-old woman driving the truck suffered serious injuries. The crash was reported 0.3 miles north of Ewers Road in Crescent City. Both women involved and the child were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
Woman killed in crash involving semi on I-95 in St. Johns County
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 63-year-old Georgia woman died Tuesday in a crash on I-95 just south of State Road 16, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the woman was traveling southbound on the interstate when her SUV was struck from behind by a semitruck. The woman was taken to a hospital in St. Augustine, where she died, the FHP said. The driver of the semi, a 46-year-old Jacksonville man, was hospitalized with injuries that were described as minor. The Highway Patrol is working to track down witnesses of the crash.
Young woman shot in Lakewood, Jacksonville police say
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A young woman was shot Monday in the Lakewood neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said they responded around 5 p.m. to Stetson Road, off St. Augustine Road, and found the young woman with a gunshot wound to the torso. Police said she was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said they are looking for three men in an older model tan or off-white van. Detectives said the shooter was wearing a black face covering, white shirt, black pants and white shoes.
Missing woman found safe, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says

A missing 56-year-old woman who left her family home Saturday was found safe Sunday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman had last been seen driving her vehicle in the area of State Road 16 and Interstate 95. Less than two hours after deputies asked for the public’s help locating the woman, the Sheriff’s Office announced late Sunday morning that she was found safe.

Woman drives around cross arms, hit by oncoming train
HILLIARD, Fla. – Railroad crossing arms and warning signals were going off on Andrews Road and U.S. 1 north in northern Nassau County when a 38-year-old woman continued to cross, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Her car was hit by a southbound CSX train around 4:44 p.m. Friday. Her sedan was pushed off the tracks into an electrical box off to the side. The woman died. Riverside woman says she was chased by man while walking her pet
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Riverside woman said she feared for her life Monday afternoon when she realized she was being followed and was eventually chased by a man she did not know. She said she started walking faster and noticed the car also picking up the pace. According to the woman, the man ended up driving through the open area, across the sidewalk and back onto the street. The woman and her husband said it appeared the driver was wearing a baseball cap and mask over his face. They were all shocked by what happened and, like the woman involved in Monday’s incident, vowed to take extra precautions when walking their pet or going for a jog.
Teenager checks herself into hospital with gunshot wounds
JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Police were called to Memorial Hospital around 3:30 a.m. Saturday after a young woman walked in with gunshot wounds. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim told investigators that she was walking near Philips Highway and Emerson Street with another boy when a car with multiple passengers drove past them. The car turned around, drove toward them and someone inside started shooting. The young woman was shot, but police said her injuries were not life-threatening. 38-year-old pedestrian killed on US 301 in Starke, FHP says
STARKE, Fla. – A 38-year-old woman died Wednesday night on U.S. 301 near the intersection of County Road 200B in Starke. Florida Highway Patrol investigators said she was killed as she walked towards a vehicle traveling north on the highway in the right lane. All northbound lanes of U.S. 301 were blocked between County Road 233 and County Road 200B during the investigation. FHP did not provide further details. Bicyclist hit by car, killed in Jacksonville Beach, police say
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A woman riding her bicycle in Jacksonville Beach was hit by a car Wednesday morning and died from her injuries, police told News4Jax. Police said the woman was headed west at the intersection of 3rd Street and 13th Avenue South about 7:45 a.m. when a vehicle headed south on 3rd Street hit her. Jacksonville Beach police said the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was cooperating with law enforcement. New mother fighting cancer honored at Atlantic Coast football game
Just before the game between First Coast High School and Atlantic Coast High School, a woman battling stomach cancer was honored on the 50-year line by players and coaches on both teams. She’s the 31-year old sister of the Atlantic Coast High School Football coach Mike Montemayor. And tonight was the first time little Tyler got to attend a football game coached by his uncle. So right before the start of the game, Milani was escorted out onto the field where she was honored by both teams and people in the stands. The coach of the First Coast High School Football team says he was using that moment to teach his players about life off the football field and what it truly means to be strong in the face of adversity.
JSO: Unborn child dies after pregnant woman shot
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pregnant woman was shot early Tuesday morning as she slept in her apartment on Kona Avenue, and the woman’s unborn child has died, police said. A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the woman, in her late 20s, was shot once in the stomach around 1:15 a.m. She was stabilized at the hospital but was reportedly in serious condition. Police said two other people were inside the Golden Shores apartment complex at the time of the shooting. MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A 32-year-old woman was killed Friday night in a crash on U.S. 301 in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. According to troopers, the woman was driving south in the northbound lanes near County Road 218 just before 9 p.m. when she struck an SUV with three people inside, including a 5-year-old girl. FHP no longer identifies victims of traffic crashes but identified her as a resident of Starke. According to the accident report, she was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers said the crash blocked all northbound lanes of U.S. 301 near Middleburg into the early morning hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.
Woman walks out of jail after posing as cellmate, police say
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 36-year-old woman was mistakenly released from the Duval County jail over the weekend after impersonating another inmate, authorities said. Jessica Hanson was taken into custody Tuesday evening within a half-hour of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office asking for the public’s help in tracking her down. Hanson, who was arrested Sept. 15 in a motor vehicle theft case, somehow duped authorities into believing she was her cellmate and was set free on Sunday. The Sheriff’s Office said Hanson is now charged with escape. Additional details about the incident were not immediately released.

Jacksonville woman, 36, dies in crash on U.S. 301 in Nassau County
A 36-year-old woman died Tuesday night in a crash on U.S. 301 in Nassau County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The woman was a passenger in a car headed south on 301 just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. A pickup truck headed north on 301 turned left onto County Road 119 across the path of the car was T-boned, troopers said. The woman died at UF Health. The 36-year-old Yulee man who was driving the car was also taken to UF Health with minor injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A 36-year-old woman who was shot during what investigators described as a physical dispute has died from her injuries, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. Officer responding to call hits, kills woman crossing road
ORANGE CITY, Fla. – A police officer responding to an emergency call hit a woman who was crossing the road early Monday, killing her, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The 41-year-old officer from the Orange City Police Department had his emergency lights activated when he hit the woman, Lt. Kim Montes said in a news release. The officer's sports utility vehicle hit the 51-year-old woman, Montes said. The woman, who was not in a crosswalk, died at the scene. Troopers did not release the names of the officer or the woman.
Jacksonville police: Man seen taking baby from woman, driving off
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was seen early Monday evening taking a baby from a woman in Northwest Jacksonville and then driving off, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Doug Molina, with the Sheriff’s Office, said witnesses told police that they saw a man and a woman, who was holding a baby, arguing. During that time, according to Molina, the man was seen taking the baby from the woman and trying to grab the woman by the arm in an attempt to get her into a vehicle. Molina said the woman resisted and walked away, but the man reportedly put the baby inside the car and drove off. Based on interviews with witnesses, Molina said, it’s possible the man and woman knew each other.
Troopers: Palatka woman struck, killed while running after her dog
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 42-year-old Palatka woman was chasing her dog early Monday evening when she was fatally struck by a vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 17 near Gordon Wilkinson Road, just north of Palatka. The Highway Patrol said a Jeep Commander was traveling south in the left lane of U.S. 17 when the woman ran into the roadway after her dog. Troopers said the driver of the Jeep, a 53-year-old Hawthorne man, was unable to avoid the woman and the Jeep hit her. The Highway Patrol said the driver of the Jeep stopped after the crash.

Joyce Klarberg, of Edgewater, Florida, won the first $2 million top prize from the Florida Lottery’s new 100X Scratch-Off game, according to lottery officials. The winning scratch-off was purchased at the Publix on 2970 South Ridgewood Avenue in Edgewater. The 100X Scratch-Off ticket costs $10 and features eight prizes of $2 million. Florida woman shocked to find snake inside her car while driving
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A woman in Broward County received quite the surprise while driving early Friday evening. According to police, the woman was driving on Hiatus Road in Pembroke Pines when she noticed a snake was inside her car. Pembroke Pines Police Officer Patrick Pagliai turned on the car’s heater in order to coax the snake out of the vehicle’s air vents. The intruder, a harmless rat snake, was caught by Officer Pagliai.
