The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Friday that the Seminolesโ regular season finale against Wake Forest had been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns on the FSU roster. Florida State will finish its season at 3-6 in coach Mike Norvellโs first year in Tallahassee. Florida State had two other games this season canceled due to coronavirus concerns, Clemson and Virginia.
No. 4 Clemsonโs game at Florida State postponed
4 Clemson and Florida State was postponed hours before kickoff Saturday when medical personnel from both schools could not agree it was safe to play. The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the postponement, although it did not detail whether the game at Florida State was called off because of coronavirus issues. The person said Clemson officials told Florida State that the Tigers player had taken part in practice and meetings throughout the week while showing symptoms. No makeup date was announced, but Florida State coach Mike Norvell said he hoped it would be in December. It is the 81st on the season since schedules were set in late August and believed to be the first game postponed on the day of the game.
Bobby Bowden continues improving after COVID-19 battle
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Bobby Bowden continues to recover from a positive test for COVID-19 and Wednesday, he released a statement on his health that included endorsements of President Donald Trump. In a letter posted to social media and emailed elsewhere, Bowden said that he was treated for COVID-19 with Remdesivir, one of the same drugs used to treat the Presidentโs COVID-19. I just went through a battle with Covid-19 and God just want' ready to take me Home yet to be with Him. But thanks to the help of Dr. Michael Forsthoefel and the support of Ann and my children, I beat it. Bowden will turn 91 on Nov. 8, five days after election day.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden has tested positive for COVID-19, he told the Tallahassee Democrat on Monday morning. The iconic Bowden, 90, said that he was the only person in his household who tested positive for the virus. โI donโt feel bad yet, I guess I can loaf around the rest of the week,โ Bowden told the newspaper. Bowden retired after the 2009 season and a 33-21 win in the Gator Bowl over West Virginia. Bowden coached for 40 years in major college football, first at Samford, then West Virginia and finally at Florida State.
Travis comes off bench to guide Florida State rally
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ Florida State was struggling on offense and turned to a new quarterback for a spark. Jordan Travis came off the bench to lead Florida State to touchdowns on five straight drives as the Seminoles rallied to knock off FCS program Jacksonville State 41-24 on Saturday. Travis had transferred to Florida State from Louisville before the 2019 season, and he had been critical to a win at Boston College last November with a pair of long touchdown runs. Lawrance Toafili ran for 99 yards and a touchdown for Florida State, which finished with 263 rushing yards on 53 carries. Florida State plays at Notre Dame next Saturday.

Florida State coach Mike Norvell will miss an upcoming game against Miami after testing positive for COVID-19, the school announced on Saturday. Deputy head coach Chris Thomsen will handle head coaching duties in Norvellโs absence. โIn our most recent round of Covid testing yesterday, I received a positive result after being negative in our previous two tests this week. Deputy head coach Chris Thomsen will handle in-person head coaching duties until I am able to return. At this point, based on our testing this week, we have no reason to believe that the Miami game is in jeopardy.โ

Cornerback Asante Samuel had two interceptions and two pass break-ups for Florida State. COVID-19 caseload growth slows, but Florida surpasses 650,000
Duval County had 68 new cases added to FDOH data released Tuesday -- about 10% of the daily number of cases reported for a few days in early and mid-July. To date, the state has recorded more than 650,092 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic first showed up in Flordia on March 1. There were three additional deaths reported in Northeast Florida counties Tuesday: a 93-year-old woman in St. Johns County, an 81-year-old woman in Nassau County and a 73-year-old man in Flagler County. Daily cases reported in Florida and Duval County since MarchState officials said there were more than 3,000 people in hospitals with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, while more than 40,000 have been hospitalized in Florida so far. On Tuesday, Florida State University reported that 839 students and 14 staff have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last month.
FSU wont allow tailgating for its home opener next Saturday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Tailgating wont be allowed for fans at Florida State for the Seminoles home opener next Saturday. The school announced that decision Friday afternoon. Florida State hosts Georgia Tech on Sept. 12 in the opening game of the season. The school didnt expand on if that restriction would stretch past its first home game. Given what is going on throughout the country and the number of COVID cases in Leon County, we have determined that for the safety of all involved we will not allow tailgating for the Georgia Tech game, said FSU athletic director David Coburn.
