JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A car smashed into a home early Saturday morning in the Harborview neighborhood, off Lem Turner Road. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to raise money to help with the cost of repairing the home. The man told News4Jax a car driving on Clyde Drive after midnight ran off the road and right into his living room. Two and a half years ago, the family said, the same thing happened and just two weeks ago, another car went into a different house in their neighborhood. Lem Turner Road Walmartโs switch from Moderna to Pfizer vaccine causes confusion for some seniors
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Walmart store on Lem Turner Road on Jacksonvilleโs Northside will be administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, according to a statement the company sent Thursday to News4Jax. The statement said that as the store at 12100 Lem Turner Road transitions from the Moderna to the Pfizer vaccine, Walmart is directing patients to two nearby locations to receive their second dose of the Moderna vaccine. โThe closest one to us was in Leon County, which is Tallahassee.โShe later learned Edwards Waters College was offering the Moderna vaccine. AdWalmartโs corporate office later issued the statement to News4Jax that reads:โThe Lem Turner store will be administering the Pfizer vaccine to serve even more people within our communities. โAs the Lem Turner store transitions from the Moderna to the Pfizer vaccine, weโre directing patients to two nearby locations to receive their second Moderna doses.
Motorcyclist dies after crash on Lem Turner Road
Motocyclist runs into truck that turned into his path. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A 67-year-old motorcyclist riding on Lem Turner Road Friday morning died after a truck turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a 66-year-old driving the truck south on Lem Turner at 11:22 a.m. was attempting to turn onto Snell Street and struck the oncoming motorcycle. The rider was taken to a hospital, where he died. The northbound lanes of Lem Turner remained closed for over an hour while the accident was investigated and cleared.
Pittman aims to make Trout River Boulevard safer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Trout River Boulevard is a scenic bypass to traffic on Lem Turner Road, but it can also be dangerous to drive. City Councilwoman JuโCoby Pittman, whose district covers Trout River Boulevard, said conditions on that road are unacceptable. Driving along Trout River Boulevard, itโs not hard to find curves that require drivers to slow down. โThis area the last couple of years has increased with traffic because there are new developments in this area,โ Pittman said. To improve roadway safety in the area, Pittman said a field review and analysis has already been completed.
Retired JSO officer accused of attempted manslaughter
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A former corrections officer accused in a shooting on Lem Turner Road earlier this month was arrested Wednesday and booked on charges of attempted manslaughter, shooting into an occupied building or vehicle and battery, according to Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office records. James Edwin Brown, 61, was released on bond the next morning. News4Jax has requested more documents about the shooting incident that resulted in Brownโs arrest.
FHP: 127 crashes reported in 5 years along stretch of I-95 near Lem Turner Road
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ More than 100 crashes have occurred in the last five years along a stretch of Interstate 95 near Lem Turner Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol provided the News4Jax I-TEAM a map showing the multiple crashes along the curve where the semitruck lost control. A map shows crashes that have happened at the section of Interstate 95 near Lem Turner Road. Tuesdayโs crash was about 250 to 500 feet south of the I-95 and Lem Turner Road interchange, and the data shows 22 crashes in that range. โThere are some improvements that are being made there, in particular, a signalized intersection at I-95 and Lem Turner Road that improved safety there,โ Ray said.
Family grieves young woman killed in I-95 crash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The family of a 21-year-old woman killed Tuesday in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville is mourning her loss. The 65-year-old truck driver was not hurt. โA [semi-truck] driver took my baby away from us,โ Krajewskiโs older sister, Amanda, wrote in a Facebook post. Based on preliminary details released by the Florida Highway Patrol, itโs unclear what might have caused the truck driver to lose control of the vehicle before the collision. The FDOT spokesperson could not provide crash data for the area, referring News4Jax to the Highway Patrol.
Downed power line causes traffic problems on Lem Turner Road
The Jacksonville Sheriffs Office says a downed power line has blocked all lanes of traffic on Lem Turner Road between Braddock and Terrell Roads. Officials say a tree was also brought down across the roadway, with the power line. JSO believes all lanes in that area will be closed for several hours.
Teenager shot in Walgreens parking lot
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Just before 5 p.m. Sunday the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office responded to calls of a person shot outside of a Walgreens on Lem Turner Road and Rowe Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a teenage boy suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers then made contact with the victims at the Walgreens, but the suspect fled the scene. News4Jax spoke with a clerk at the Walgreens who said staff didnt hear the gunfire, but noticed the flashing lights when police arrived. Rowdy overnight block party shut down twice by Jacksonville police
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A rowdy midnight party Sunday at a RaceWay gas station off Lem Turner Road was shut down -- twice -- by the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Before police were called, several dozen people crowded in the gas station parking lot, while a few stood on top of their vehicles. It appeared some people were drawn to the RaceWay by the commotion, taking their cellphones out to film video. An employee who asked to remain anonymous told News4Jax that JSO first broke up the party around 11 p.m. but the crowds returned just after midnight and started partying again until police officers came back. News4Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson said this type of behavior is concerning so soon after Florida reopened portions of its economy.
Police looking for 2 men after gas station clerk shot during robbery
JACKSONVILLE. Fla. โ Officers responding to a silent alarm at 5 a.m. Saturday at the Speedway gas station on Lem Turner Road, three blocks north of I-95, found a man shot, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. According to police, two men ambushed the storeโs clerk while he was opening the store. They forced the clerk to enter the building, then shot the worker during the robbery. Across the street at Midas, store manager Darrell Vogler, said he and his employees go to the gas station often.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ At least one person was injured in a crash Tuesday evening on northbound Interstate 95 at Lem Turner Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It happened about 10 p.m. The circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear at this time. The Highway Patrol is investigating.
Troopers: 1 killed, 2 injured in head-on crash near Callahan
NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. - A man was killed and two people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday morning near Callahan, the Florida Highway Patrol said. It happened just before 9 a.m. on Lem Turner Road just north of Gator Lane. Troopers said the impact caused both vehicles to go off the road, with the Civic stopping on the outside, northbound shoulder and the Escape overturning in a ditch. The driver of the Civic, identified as Douglas L. Adams, died at the scene, troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol, the 63-year-old Callahan woman driving the Escape was take to UF Health hospital with critical injuries and the passenger in the Escape, a 53-year-old Callahan man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Road paving causes I-295 ramp closures this week
Motorists traveling northbound I-295 wishing to exit to Lem Turner Road will detour to Duval Road (Exit 33), return to I-295 and travel south to exit Lem Turner Road. Drivers will detour via Dunn Avenue and use the I-295 southbound entrance ramp. Also, on Tuesday, the I-295 northbound entrance ramp from Duval Road will be closed. On Wednesday, the I-295 northbound and southbound exit ramps to Duval Road will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to Lem Turner Road (Exit 32) and travel east on Dunn Avenue to return to Duval Road.
Homeowner shot, killed during home invasion off Lem Turner
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An invasion of a home on Grand Street just off Lem Turner Road on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a homeowner, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. A homicide detective said a man in his mid-50s was shot at least once and died at the scene. Detectives were in the process of interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. Crash involving FedEx truck blocks lane of I-95 south
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A crash involving a FedEx semitruck blocked a lane of southbound traffic Monday night on I-95. The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. near the off ramp at Lem Turner Road. Restaurants reopen after failed inspections
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A handful of restaurants recently had trouble passing routine inspections and had to make some big changes before they could reopen. An inspector allowed the fast-food chain to reopen within a few hours after a spotless inspection. Athens Cafe on St. Augustine Road in San Jose reopened after a failed inspection. He said two pest control companies and a plumber were called after roaches were found throughout the kitchen. It took several follow-up inspections for the restaurant to reopen with a perfect score.
