JACKSONVILLE, Fla. During the course of a four-day investigation into an auto theft ring, more than 10 vehicles were recovered and several people were taken into custody, according to a report from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. The report states that detectives were investigating the thefts of more than 15 cars from auctions, dealers and shops along New Kings Road. Stephen Harrison, 49, was arrested and charged with five counts of auto theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to the report, three stolen vehicles were found on the property, which had been reported stolen from Americas Auto Auction Jacksonville on New Kings Road. Investigators determined four other vehicles on the property may also have been stolen but unreported.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol car was hit by another car early Thursday at the intersection of Soutel Drive and New Kings Road, police said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the officer was headed east on Soutel Drive when a driver headed north on New Kings Road ran a red light and hit the patrol car. The officer and the driver were injured and taken to the hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man was arrested in connection with a deadly crash in March on New Kings Road, according to a state crash report. Police said White was driving a pickup truck with two passengers on New Kings Road, just south of the intersection of Gilchrist Road, about 8 p.m. March 1 when he slammed into a semitruck. The names of both were redacted in the crash report. According to the crash report, the passenger who survived told JSO that White had been drinking, and the officer wrote that White appeared intoxicated. The crash report shows he told JSO he saw the pickup truck coming at him at a high rate of speed and couldnt maneuver to avoid being hit.
