According to News4Jax’s news partner the Jax Daily Record, the city issued the permit Feb. 6 for Ash Construction LLC to begin remodeling the site. The plans include interior demolition and storefront work, and the plans show that Ash Properties wants to expand the building. Ash Properties paid $4.38 million for the building back in December 2015. The Kmart site closed in 2016 but it continued to lease the property until its parent company Sears Holdings Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2018.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A police officer shot a man in the leg after a high-speed chase down San Jose Boulevard on Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office said the chase started about 11:10 p.m. at the intersection of University Boulevard and Powers Avenue. According to the Sheriff’s Office, an officer chased the man around a convenience store at Addie Lane and fired one shot, hitting the man in the leg. The arrest report does not even say Paige was shot, only that he was apprehended after a foot pursuit. On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Darrell Paige, 21, who was arrested on charges of fleeing law enforcement, reckless driving and driving on an invalid license.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A bald man in his mid-40s was “in a rush” Thursday when he robbed a bank in Mandarin, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. It happened about 1:30 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank on San Jose Boulevard at Loretto Road. The description appeared to be similar to that of a man accused of robbing a St. Johns County bank last week. Earlier this week, according to JSO, an armed man dressed in all black robbed the Regions Bank on San Jose Boulevard, just south of Beauclerc Road. According to News4Jax records, last year, there were 12 bank robberies in Jacksonville, with arrests in seven.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An armed man dressed in all black robbed a bank in the Beauclerc neighborhood on Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. Just after 3 p.m., according to police, the man entered the Regions Bank on San Jose Boulevard, just south of Beauclerc Road, pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money. Police said the man took off south on San Jose Boulevard after the teller handed over money. Police said the man, who appeared to be 25 to 30 years old, was wearing black sweatpants and a black hoodie, with his face partially covered. He was described as being about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 7:10 p.m. and shut down both directions of San Jose Boulevard for several hours. A woman told News4Jax that she drove up on the crash right after it happened and one driver got out his vehicle, seemingly dazed and surprised about what happened. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two armed men in disguises robbed a bank in Mandarin late Monday morning and then took off in the bank manager's car, which was later found, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Police said the robbers then took off in the bank manager's car -- a 2019 silver four-door Infiniti Q50 with light tint. The FBI was notified and responded to scene, as well as the JSO Robbery Unit, Air Unit and K-9 Unit. Boucher said there were five employees and no customers inside at the time of the bank robbery. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two suspected carjackers are in serious condition after a fiery crash in Mandarin Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. He was able to run off but the three suspects stole his car, according to JSO. About an hour later -- an officer spotted the stolen car parked near a closed business in the Mandarin area. As the officer approached the car, two suspects got back in the car and took off on San Jose Boulevard. Both suspects in the car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
