1 killed in shooting at Lake City hotel, police say
One person was killed in a shooting Monday night at a hotel in Lake City, police said. Officers with the Lake City Police Department said they were called shortly before 9:15 p.m to a report of gunshots at the Days Inn on U.S. Highway 441, just south of Interstate 10. The victim -- who was identified as Roderick Markim Brizzell, 30, of Lake City -- died at the scene, police said. After the shooting, the witness said, the three people ran off and were possibly picked up by a vehicle. Ex slashes pregnant Lake City womanโs stomach, police say
A pregnant woman was injured in Lake City over the weekend when her ex-boyfriend slashed her across the stomach with a pocket knife, authorities said. The attack happened about 5 p.m. Saturday near where Northeast Escambia Street meets Northeast Calhoun Avenue in Lake City, the Lake City Police Department said. Witnesses told police things escalated when Williams drew a silver pocket knife and cut the victim across her stomach. Anyone with tips on Williams' whereabouts is ask to call Lake City Police at 386-752-4343. If Williams is seen, police recommend that the public avoid approaching him and instead contact local law enforcement.
Two teens missing from behavioral health center

Lake City police arrest man accused of robbing bank, attempting to carjack employee
LAKE CITY, Fla. A man was arrested Wednesday after robbing a bank and then trying to carjack an employee, the Lake City Police Department said. Police said a man, who was later identified as Demarcus Daniels, was waiting in the bushes as employees opened the bank. After receiving cash, according to police, Daniels grabbed an employee and forced her to leave the bank with him. When the two got outside, police said, Daniels tried to carjack the employee, but she did not have her keys, so he took off. There were no injuries to Daniels or any bank employees, police said.

Police said Alyssa Ann-Marie Johns was last seen in the area of Southwest Bascom Norris Drive and Sisters Welcome Road in Lake City on Friday. Johns, who was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, was said to be headed toward Live Oak in an unknown vehicle, police said. Police: Man yelled 'aye, let me get that,' stabbing ensued
LAKE CITY, Fla. - A man was arrested and charged with battery after he stabbed a man at the Cedar Park Apartment Complex, according to the Lake City Police Department. On Wednesday, police said Dearion Dallas was standing at the top of a staircase at the apartment complex and was in an argument with the victim. According to police, witnesses said Dallas yelled, "Aye, let me get that" before running down the staircase and getting in a fight with the victim. Investigators said Dallas stabbed the victim between his neck and shoulder. Dallas was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
2 robbers climb in McDonald's drive-through window, demand money
After the robbers got the money from the safe and the cash drawers, they left through the drive-through window. Lake City officers set up a perimeter and K-9s from Baker Correctional Institution attempted to track the culprits. One was wearing tan shorts, a black shirt and black shoes with a mask covering his face. The second was wearing black shorts, black shirt, black shoes and had a mask covering his face. The Lake City Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the robbers.

LAKE CITY, Fla. - The Lake City Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a missing woman with speech and hearing impairments. Fernika Shirell Taylor, 43, was last seen leaving her home Wednesday and hasn't been seen since. Officers describe her as a black woman with glasses, brown eyes, about five foot four inches tall, weighing around 165 pounds. Investigators say they don't know which direction Taylor may be traveling or what she was wearing when she disappeared. Woman abducted, nearly raped in Lake City, police say
LAKE CITY, Fla. โ There's a neighborhood crime alert in Lake City, where officers are looking for three men who police said abducted a woman Thursday night and attempted to rape her. The Lake City Police Department said the attack was only stopped because someone happened to walk by. The woman told police she passed a dark-colored midsize SUV on Northwest Lake Jeffery Road near Young's Park and a man inside yelled at her to come "party with them" and offered her alcohol. The three men told her it was her "lucky day," let her go and then took off. "Even though they were not able to fully carry out the attack, rape is real and it's wrong," Bowens said.

LAKE CITY, Fla. โ Police are asking the publicโs help Saturday identifying five suspects seen on surveillance video burglarizing Buddyโs Home Furnishings, the Lake City Police Department said. The burglary was the second attempt at the location in the past two days, police said. The surveillance video shows five suspects dressed in hoodies enter the store and run straight to the front counter. One of the suspects was seen putting an item in a black back. 3 missing teens found in Lake City
LAKE CITY, Fla. โ Three teenagers reported missing Monday in Lake City have been found safe. All were believed to be runaways, according to the Lake City Police Department. The teens were identified as Shaylenne Gary,14, Kimberly Martin, 13, and Brianna Carter, 15, who is not pictured. Police said they were last seen at the Columbia County Library at 1 p.m. Monday.
